So my game crashes on January 1, 1871. I'm running VIP:R3 on a Mac, with no problems with memory, video card, etc. I've never had any issues with Vic (and I've played for years), but now since upgrading to the latest versions of Revolutions and VIP, I can't get past 1871.

The error I'm getting says: Critical error! ERROR: (Missing = in statement.)' and then a ton a weird symbols. I think get a chance to click "OK" which crashes the game back to the desktop. When I try again rebooting from the autosave (saved as of 1/1/1871, I save monthly for VIP), I get the same message. Sometimes the failure message says something about the file /ai.

Any ideas? Should I quit and start a fresh campaign? I'm having a really good run as the USCA, so I'd like to keep going!

Thanks!

To add, I loaded a save game from 1870 (just before I launched my war against Colombia), and this time I made it to January 4, 1871 before crashing. This time the message reads: Critical Error! ERROR: (Missing = in statement.)'. 'Line = 1 file = ai\

I've looked and I can't find that particular file. Any ideas? This looks like a Vicky issue, not a computer issue, if you know what I mean.

(I've been reading the posts here for years, but this is my first contribution. Ain't it great?)

It sounds to me like you've missed off something in an AI file that you've edited. What country were you playing and what were you trying to do? Also, have you upgraded with the hotfix for VIP:R 0.3 (it should say v 0.301 when selecting the scenario in the menu, if so)?

I've got the latest hotfix, but I haven't made any edits to any ai files personally. Any edits came from the VIP scenario and hotfixes.

Now having said that, I have previously in this game loaded as USA to force them into a monarchy (so that as the USCA I could get some immigration from time to time). Would that have impacted an ai file?

No file mentioned. The error only states: Critical Error! ERROR: (Missing = in statement.)'. 'Line = 1 file = ai\

Could something have not copied correctly when I was downloading all the hotfixes and updates? I'm trying again as Sardinia-Piedmont just to see if it happens again when I get to 1871.

This is ridiculous. I completely removed everything and completely reloaded everything -- I even re-purchased Revolutions because I couldn't find my original receipt/password. After all that, I started a VIP campaign with Japan (first tried S-P, but I wasn't happy with how the conquest of Austria turned out, so I didn't get all the way to 1870).

No edits of any kind: no changes to parties, no changes to cultures, no changes to anything. And the same damn thing happened. I hit January 3, 1871, and BAM! The same message appeared.

As Pink Floyd so eloquently put it, wot's... uh the deal? Why do I get this message? And why am I apparently the only one?
