Game Crashes on "Creating Borders"

I've got a MacBook with an Intel HD3000, running CK2 through Wine (via Steam).

All had been working well until the 1.06 patch, at which point the game has started crashing at the loading screen (Creating Borders).

Any solution for this, or something that'll need a hotfix?

BTW are you aware you can play the Mac version on the HD3000 as long as you can ut up with horrible graphics on the terrain map? Just edit settings.txt to say draw_terrain=no

I was not! I really appreciate your response; it's a fantastic way to get my CK2 "fix" Many many thanks for your help.
