Yes before you suggest it, I've already done a completely clean re install, not using any mods.
Same is happening for me. I've tried every solution in these forums, every solution on steam forums, reinstalled the game dozens of times. I'm starting to believe paradox just sold me a $40 loading screen that doesn't even finish loading.

Yeah, I even played a bit before going to bed and Holy fury going live, now It just keeps crashing no matter what I do.

Go to Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings II. In there, delete the folder called "gfx". Note that this is NOT the /gfx/ folder under Steam/SteamApps/common/CK2 .
Now restart your game, it will recreate that folder and fix the problem.

You also need to add ck2game.exe to the exceptions list/whitelist of your antivirus app.

I did both. No effect.

Same here I did all the tricks deleted the ck2 documents folder and the white listing it still keeps crashing on start up. Started looking true the paradox ck2 documents and found the graphics log (see below) seems there are some invalid calls

I had this issue and found that it wasn't crashing on Graphics, but when it switched to loading Flags. The solution I found was to disable my antivirus, delete the flags folder in Documents/Paradox Interactive/Crusader Kings II/gfx, and then launch the game. After doing this I could launch the game successfully even with my antivirus disabled.

also now crashes at same point

Tried the above too :(

We are especially seeing problems with CK2 3.0 under Avast AV, but others could cause such problems too.

Yup. I do have avast

Then that is almost certainly your problem. Check again that ck2game.exe is in its exceptions list/whitelist.

I know AV apps are (deliberately) hard to uninstall but you may need to do this to get past Avast - we have more trouble with that AV app than any other. the free Revo Uninstaller utility might help with that.

Once it is gone and the game is running you can probably install it again, as AV apps tend to trust apps that are already there when they are installed.
