Greetings! I never had any issues with the game, but since I tried the new beta version without disabling some of my mods, my game keeps crashing and I cannot get it to work.

First, I got to the main menu, then empire selection, then I clicked "play" and the game would crash during loading the game. Then I did a clean re-install (see steps below) and now my game crashes even earlier, during loading the main menu.

So here are the steps I did to try and fix it

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere, and user_empire_designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have made any custom empires or races.
- "uninstall" in Steam-Stellaris
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add stellaris.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

I also went ahead and downloaded the VCredistx64 and VCredistx86 data and installed both.

Every time I open the launcher, I get an error message and I am being asked to delete the launcher data launcher-v2.sqlite in my documents folder. Every time I do so, I get the same error again on next start.

And as I wrote above, now with a clean stellaris version and no mods, my game always crashes during loading the main menu.

I have attached multiple different data logs, but I was unable to attach Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt because they do not exist.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Like I said I never had any issues with the game up until this patch.

Your antivirus app is getting in the way:
[23:44:24][virtualfilesystem_physfs.cpp:1193]: Could not open file: settings.txt, error: permission denied
What antivirus app do you use? You need to make sure all these apps are in its exceptions lists:

stellaris.exe and dowser.exe (in the Steam Stellaris folder)
C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2022.1/paradox launcher.exe
C:/users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/bootstrapper-v2.exe

Good luck with that!
