Game crashes on Windows 10

Hi, I downloaded the new patch and the new Punic Wars Content Pack. I started the game on Ironmode, played for a couple of hours, saved the game and left.

Several hours later I tried to start the game to continue my campaign but every time the game crashes before the menu. I tried using the imperator's launcher and the file.exe. Few seconds after I hit the play buttom the game crashes

man at least you were able to play for a bit. I have been trying to play a new game for 3hours+ and haven't even loaded the map.. (same issue)

ASSUMING NO MODS ARE INVOLVED:
Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-Imperator
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Imperator AND Documents/Paradox/Imperator folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add imperator.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Imperator or Documents Imperator locations, before installing again.

I followed your instructions and I was able to play the game. But everytime I save the game, quit and try to play Imperator again, it crashes. So, I can play the game only after I install it, and only once. It's like imperator kidnapped my computer and is trying to say: you will only play me, and if you dare to quit for any reason, our relationship is over (until I reinstall it). I know, it's a bad joke, but the issue is real

Update: I think I know the problem: I can't change the graphics settings, not increase it or decrease it.

What antivirus app do you use?

Windows Defender, but I added the game to the exception list
