Game crashes when entering after any version past 1.4.2

Description​

Friend gave the game to me a sa gift on steam and thought why not try it out and I tried entering and it crashed, verified files, don't have any mods etc, decided to go to older versions and the ones that work are 1.4.2 or before, anything after (basically Colossus of the south) and it crashes immediate when trying to enter the country picker map

Steps to reproduce​

Open game on any version after 1.4.2
The menu appears
I click new game
I click select country
It stays for a while on the loading screen them crashes

If your model of Mac only has an Intel video system, that is probably the cause of your problem. This game now only usesw Vulkan as a renderer, not openGL any longer. And Vulkan does not run well or in some cases at all on Intel video Macs. FYI this game has never been supported on that hardware platform since release, so really it's a matter of luck that it ever worked!

If that is the situation you can try updating MacOS to 14.x which may have a newer Intel video driver; if that doesn't help or is not possible, all you can do is revert to the previous game version in the Steam betas tab for the game. Or play on any other machine you have access to with supported hardware. OR if you have Apple Bootcamp installed, play in Windows there.


If however that is not the case - ie that your Mac has AMD video or is on Apple Silicon - that's a different matter; let us know here and we'll look into your case more closely.
