Short summary of your issue
The game crashes each time I try to start up a game, either a new game or a save

Game Version
1.0.6/1.1.2/1.2-beta

What OS are you playing on?
Windows 10

Do you have mods enabled?
No

Have you tried verifying your game files?
Yes

How much "pain" is this causing you?
10

Please explain the issue you experienced in the most condensed way possible
I have had this issue since december, I haven't been able to play the game since then, before that it worked flawlessly.
The game loads to the game menu correctly, but crashes when starting up a game

Please explain how to reproduce the issue
Launching Victoria 3 and starting up a new game or save file

Is there anything else you think could help us identify/replicate the issue?
I have tried: downgrading my driver version, re-installing the game, all the possible settings, the "disable fullscreen optimizations" trick together with disabling V-sync and an FPS cap of 60 and verifying the integrety of game files. I have tried all versions of the game, but none work. The game has worked before.

I have attached a save game

No, it crashes before

From that exceptions log this may be a CPU issue. Does yours meet this requirement?
Processor: Intel® Core™ i3-3250 or AMD® FX 8370 (AVX support required)

If you are not sure, DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Yes, I got an i5-6400 CPU. It did run before on that CPU as well for two months

That pdx_settings.json files does not reflect that, it's in windowed mode with Vsync on.

Right click on victoria3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, refresh rate 60.

IF that doesn't help, Please do a full clean re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-Vic3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Vic3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Vic3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add Victoria3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Vic3 or Documents Vic3 locations, before installing again.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Vic3/pdx_settings.json .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Vic3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.log

I have tried all the things listed here, but sadly none of it has worked. Here are my DXDIAG results and all other files. the systems.log file is empty and the exceptions.log file did not exist in my logs folder

With 8gb of system memory and 4gb of dedicated Vram, I don't understand why you get this error. I suppose it is possible the video card is borrowing memory from the system leaving you short there.

Please:

- expand your Windows paging file maximum size to 32gb
- exit every other app you can before starting the game.

Does that help matters at all?
