*deleted* EDIT: Seems the game even crashes with FoW off... well, this problem may be bigger than I thought. Neither the OBSERVE command nor the FOW command cause the game directly to crash, it seems to be the game itself. I apologize now for the misleading title.

.. so what's the situation now? Are you asking for help still? If so perhaps you can describe the circumstances of the crash in detail please, and supply what info you can, as you see me ask for in most other threads here.

Sorry, should've been more specific. At first I thought the problem was playing with FoW+Observe, but then I realized it was neither of those problems. The game just seems to randomly crash every time I start playing the gamee. I can generally play for at most 40 seconds until it crashes, I can't find a specific reason that causes it to crash... I am currently playing an "Observer" campaign, so the character is shaded out when I start and I must pick someone before I can start, not sure if that would even be a problem. And.. that's about it. I pick a nation, I type "Observe" "FOW", game crashes shortly after. If I just type "Observe" it crashes shortly after, same if I just type "FOW" or if I type neither! So I don't know what's going on now.

EDIT: It may be possible that this campaign is just corrupted and I can start another (I know it's not just the save because I tried a previous autosave but to no avail) Checking now.

Well, all was seemingly good... started another campaign and it was lasting for a very long time.. I was thinking "Guess it was a one time instance! *dusts off hands*".. then it crashed again. Random year, no real pattern that I see.

Let's start with a full clean reinstall. If this is Steam: uninstall the game from Steam and move any valued save games elsewhere. Manually delete the CK2 directories from under the Steam AND MyDocuments folders, now reinstall the game via Steam.

If GamersGate: Move valued save games elsewhere, and uninstall the game. Manually delete the CK2 directories from where GG put them and from MyDocuments. Reinstall the game , download 1.05e patch again and apply it.
