Game Crashes

First, my system:

Amd Athlon 800MHz
384 mb RAM
two (2) 30 gig HDs
16x Pioneer DVD
ATI Radeon SDR 64mb
Creative Soundblaster Live! 5.1/MP3 SOUND CARD
VERSION 1.5 of EUII
All drivers up to date.

Now, the problem: In the game settings, if the sound/music is ON, the game crashes in mid load. The Strategy First and Paradox screens come up, but as interfaces load, the game crashes to desktop. With the sound OFF in settings, the game will load and work, but without music and little sound. Not a complete experience for sure. Any suggestions?

I will have to check on Creative Labs web site to see if they have anything on this. it sounds like a sound driver problem, or a direct X problem.

try this to remove DirectX and reinstall it.

what is your OS?

Also, you should consider upgrading your motherboard BIOS.

OS is WinME. Have tried remove/reinstall direct x without effect. I confess to being a bit afraid of messing with my motherboard BIOS as computer runs well but for this problem. Have FIC motherboard.
