Whenever I start a game, and play through say about 40 years it crashes to desktop. This happens with each of my games, and I have tried to uninstall and reinstall it but it happens each time.

Do you have CK or the expansion Deus Vult ?
If you have Deus Vult, have you installed the latest beta-patch ?
After you reload from a save-game can you continue your game ?
Yes I have CK and Deus Vult.

After I reload the game, I can continue, however after another 40 or so years it again crashes.

Then it most likely related to these. And if you have those, then there is not much you can do about it. Sprry about that.
I have exactly the same problem really annoying. so there will be no fix for this issue?
And you have installed the latest beta, that of october 2008 ? (just asking to be sure).
If so, then yes I am afraid there won't be a fix for this.
I have found that saving and reloading every ten or twenty years reduces the number of crashes to almost none.
Yeah that's what i have been doing now.
I recently reinstalled CK+DV and latest patch etc. the only thing that is different is that i run on Win7 now.
Before when i ran it on XP i never had crashes.
