Game-crashing bugs

All of these actions can cause the game to crash:
1) Typing certain punctuation (e. g., ? or !) in a save game name (especially bad because it crashes the game when you are trying to save);
2) Trying to view the current victory points leaders with F1 when all other countries have been destroyed;
3) Finishing the game with all other countries destroyed.

1. Why would you put illegal characters in a save game name?
2. and 3. Known bugs, won't fix, since World Conquest isn't really what the game is about, even if quite a few people do it, including me.

Actually ! is a valid filename char in Win2k but it also doesn't crash the game in Win2k so I'd guess that it is illegal in Win98/ME. I would call crashing on illegal chars a bug though since it really shouldn't crash it should just refuse to save until you give a valid name.

This chrashes the game in some releases, in some not.

In the current patch (nov 2004) the game does not crash, in my experience.

I would call crashing on illegal chars a bug though since it really shouldn't crash it should just refuse to save until you give a valid name.

I agree with this. But it is quite rare for the EU to give response to this kind of actions. Should the game give a standard message (like the one given for an event or " army X has arrived in...) or are we asking for some new kind of message feature?

I'm running EU2 on Windows XP and every time I try to save a game, any game at all, it crashes the program. Without saving anything of course.
I downloaded the 1.08 patch and it didn't seem to do anything for it. Any help?

Please do not double post you already started a thread in the support forum on this subject. We will deal with it there since it is obviously not a bug since everyone else can save a game.
