Game crashing on newest version?

Hello,

I had gotten a data recovery service done in the middle of June and went to Windows 10. Now, the newest version of CK2 and EU4 both crash when I try to load the game at all (even though the newest version of EU4 came out after I switched). If I try to load a mod it crashes the game instantly and shuts it down while loading the base game will go through some of the start-up screens and then crash. Going back to a previous version works just fine but does anyone have any idea as to what I can do to make the games run again? I've tried a re-install, verifying the game cache etc.

Any ideas?

I'm running it via steam yes. Other games are working just fine and it still doesn't run without mods.

Please go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Europa Universalis IV\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010\ and run dxsetup.exe
Please go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Europa Universalis IV\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2010\ and run vcredist_x86.exe and vcredist_x64.exe
Please go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Europa Universalis IV\_CommonRedist\DotNet\4.0 Client Profile\ and run dotNetFx40_Client_x86_x64.exe

Also if you have installed RadeonPro, or a gaming VPN app called Evolve, or the MSI Gaming App, disable it as it clashes with this game.

Tried all of that and it still doesn't work.
I have a Radeon processor but not RadeonPro. I will download the games on another computer tomorrow morning and see if they run on the newest version.

I think i have the same issue.
CK2 runs via steam. I tried to play today after a long break (many monthes), When i click on "play" from steam interface i can have the launcher, launch the game, choose parameters (choose my country,...) for a game, but when i launch the game, it goes back to the desktop. It happens with or without dlc's (i don't have all of them) and without mod.

my PC : windows 10 /1607 last update , Nvidia Geforce GTX 650
I uninstalled / reinstalled the game which is automatically updated via steam

I also have EU IV on steam (bought few monthes ago), but it seems to be correct.

In future it is always best to start your own thread. "The same issue" is almost always not the same issue, and it confuses the thread you've hijacked.

I'd start with a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK2
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK2 AND Documents/Paradox/CK2 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK2 or Documents CK2 locations, before installing again.

I followed your instructions and it seems to work. I launched a game wich seems to be correct. Uninstalling the game with steam was'nt enough !

I had, before uninstall the game, the GoT mod (non active) and now it has disappeared. I remember that i never managed to run it
Is there any connection with my issue ?

Could easily be. You will need to re-install it manually, since it's not on the Steam Workshop. Check with that mod's forum here.
