Currently playing in 1.9.6 on Windows. My game has started regularly crashing, and it specifically happens when I click on states. Sometimes I can click on them and be fine, sometimes I click on a state, the game shudders for a second, and then crashes. I have no mods enabled, I have verified my game files, and it hasn't helped. Let me know if others have had this issue!

Right click on victoria3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

If those don't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.
IF dxdiag.txt fails to attach here, rename it to dxdiag.log , or zip it up.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/pdx_settings.json .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/crashes/ folder, attach here the latest (only!) exceptions.txt

The first option didn't seem to help. My game is still crashing sometimes when clicking on states.

I think this is everything you asked for - let me know if anything was mistaken!

One thing I'd add that is probably useful information - my game has a bug currently where after zooming out, when I zoom back into my cities, every city will very briefly have the wrong name. For example, Athens will be labeled as Kiev for a split second before being labeled as Athens again. It affects gameplay very little, but I figure it might be related.

Your AMD video drivers are from 2023 so I suggest you update those:

And I see you have Windows 11 24H2; this can be the cause of this problem, it is a severely broken Windows update that has caused problems across the whole gaming - indeed computer - industry.

A user has come up with another possible workaround

Definitely worth a shot - let me know if that does help you! Note that to test it you don't actually need to use Processor Lasoo, just Affinity in Task Manager (for testing purposes anyway).

And finally, in the game settings menu switch the renderer to Vulkan.

Let us know if any of those help!
