Game CtD after loading slider ....

My game CtD after the loading slider gets to 3/4 of its size. Sometimes I get an error ( you know the screen gets blue ... ), I can't remember wait it says. Anyhow I tried reinstalling but it didn't work. The funny thing is that I tried to load another save game file which worked ( before this happened ) and now I get the same thing, though I can start new scenarios.

Uninstall the game following these instructions:

reinstall the game and it should work.

it can happen when you modify game files or if you have installed the EEP.

I have installed EEP, but I haven't made modiffications and it worked, then sudenly it stoped working.

You should ask the EEP guys to check if they have reports from people with corrupt save games such as yours. Tell them it's not the 1.03 bug, but another bug, and tell them I say you're the third one with that problem and all of you had the EEP.

They will look into it.

Ok, I'll do that. I've done some more testing on this issue. I started a new game as Castile in the 1419 cpn ( not the EEP one, but with EEP installed ). Things were going fine till 1467 I guess. I saved the game and I quit EU2. My save game was corupt, so I used the autosave. It worked. I continued to play till 1475 then I saved. I quit EU2. Then I tried to load my savegame file, the autosave and another savegame file ( from 1474 ) and they all failed to load.
I tried to play this without EEP and I receive an error from Windows when trying to load. With EEP, the game CtD pure and simple ( no error message ).

You need to uninstall the game completely and then reinstall it, as per the thread uninstall (link on top). Otherwise, I doubt it will work after you have installed the EPP.

No, I had other reasons, but anyhow it doesn't work. I reinstalled EU2, loaded my save game and CtD.

NO,NO,NO, this is geting UNIVERSAL in EU2 ! Another save game of mine got corrupted. I can not play EU2 like this.

perform a scandisk (full scan) and a defrag, then start again.

This is weird as I never had any corrupt savegame problem (except the one reported in 1.03).

Alex, I have loaded your game and it loads fine, just like any other game on my system

We should look at your hardware. Check the "Running problems" thread on top of the forum, try everything in there and then post me your config as indicated in that thread.

I ran scan disk, but not defrag because I've just formated my hard a couple of days ago, I ran that directx thing, no problems were detected. Here's my sys config:

Intel Pentium II MMX 450 MHz
Creative Sound Card
ATI video card + Voodoo 2 ( I think at least 15 MB )
128 MB Ram
3.71 GB free on drive C
hmmm... I can't remember my CD-R speed but it's more that 50.
OS: Win Me

run defrag, it is especially important right after a reinstallation of windows and all software.

What version of DirectX are you using?

Thanx for reminding me about directx. I forgot to install the latest version. I don't know what my version is right know but I'm going to install v 8.1 and I'll defrag.

don't! Stick with v8.0a

The problem is that if I uninstall directx 8.1 my version of direct x will be the old one (from WinMe). I can't install 8.0 because I'd have to wait a day to download it using a modem connection.

use a software like getright to download stuff. You can pause or stop the download at any time and resume it later. Also, it goes faster with this than with a normal browser download.

You should really be on Dx 8.0a instead of 8.1, but still, some people don't have problems with the 8.1 version, so it's your choice.
