Game doesn't load past 'events'. If I click on the screen, it crashes.

Like the title says, I launch my game and the loading screen shows up, my cursor is invisible. When the bar says "Loading Events" and I click anywhere on my screen, it crashes. If I don't do anything, it stays at "Loading Events" presumably forever. I have Windows 8.1.

Oddly enough, uninstalling then reinstalling the game works until I shut down my computer, then the same thing happens.

I was with you until that last para; I have no idea what could cause that!

I assume this hasn't always happened? Only since some change or update?

Add steam.exe and ck2game.exe to the Exceptions list of your antivirus app.

I have the exact same problem as the OP, have you found a fix yet?
