Game doesn't start properly

Basically, my game worked until I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and now it has completely stopped working, it comes up with a C++ Runtime error. Then, it loads the pre-game menu screen, but my DLC packs aren't there. Then I click play there and the same message appears. I should add that I use Steam because it seems to cause all the problems.

I got the error log, it looked like this but went on forever:

To me it looks like my game has lost files, but I'm not an expert at this. Is Steam causing all my problems or is it my fault for uninstalling it? Thanks in advance.

Did you look at Properties -> Local Files -> Verify Integrity of Game Cache...?
It seems like your reinstall messed up, which may be because Steam extracted the files from a screwed up cache.

It works now sort of, the game runs fine but the launcher still doesn't show my DLCs I have, and it looks outdated, showing me the 1.3b patch.

You most likely should do a clean reinstall by uninstalling the game and deleting the game folder in steamapps folder manually. Then reinstall the game again. Also before you do this check if the DLC's are shown in the Properties -> DLC. If they aren't listed there then you might have to contact Steam's own support as then its Steam messing up.

I still can't get the launcher to work, the game is updated and works, but I can't get onto the in-game store feature. I've registered the game and everything so I don't know why that isn't working. That might explain why the launcher is not working correctly.

Just to clarify: you did the clean reinstall that Wezqu suggested, including deletion, and now the game will run from ck2.exe but the Launcher will not run. Is that all correct to say?

If so, what exactly happens when you try to run the Launcher? Any errors or messages? You might visit the Windows Update site and let it apply any .NET fixes that it finds.

Yeah, I realised now what is meant by a absolute clean reinstall, I deleted the game in the steamapps folder and the seperate one with the saves in my other folder but nothing happens when I reinstall. Is there another group of files I'm missing?

No there should not be others. You would have not needed to delete the save folders thought.

Could you please list what is the problem or problems you still have. Just to clarify to me and AndrewT so we can efficiently help you. Is it still just the launcher that is not working?

Launcher Problems:
Lack of notification for recent patch
No DLCs listed (yet listed in Steam > Properties)
No mods are listed

Game Problems:
In-game store button blacked out

You mean you can't run the game at all now? Or you can but you still have those same problems?

Did you visit Windows Update and allow it to apply fixes?

please post a dxdiag.txt (you can delete everything after the "Sound devices" section for brevity), settings.txt, system.log and error.log files (you'll need to rename the .log files to .txt to upload). Also open setup.log, search for "checksum", and paste that line only in here.

I have now updated the .NET framework and the launchers patch notification has now up to date. However, I still have the problem of the launcher not being able to find DLCs or mods.

That aside I see no real problems in there. Are you confident you've installed the mods correctly?
