I previously (before 1.8) played a full campaign as Japan and the game ran fine.
Tried starting up a new game in 1.8.6 now and it is practically unplayable as it will frequently freeze and I have to force stop from Steam.
I'm on the same computer as before. Linux, 11th Gen Intel© Core™ i7-1165G7, TigerLake-LP Iris Xe, 64GB RAM.
Tried the "Low" default for graphics but no difference.
I started suspecting it was related to zooming the map so made the following test.
Starting the game in debug mode. It ran fine for a couple of months when I was not zooming the map at all. As soon as I started doing that I got an "Oh deer we got problems", it was showing slow FPS and when I continued a bit more zooming I got the freeze.
