Since this thread started there have been updates, so let's throw them at the problem.

CK2: opt into the 2.2.0.4 beta in the Steam-ck2-properties-beta tab.

Now do a full clean re-install of CK2 to make sure everything's new:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "delete local content" in Steam-CK2
- manually delete all files and folders left under Steam/CK2 AND Documents/Paradox/CK2
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.

If no change, let's get a new set of files please, including settings.txt this time, as per post #2 above.

Sorry this is taking so long!

I'm already using the beta version of 2.2.0.4. No fixes there for this, at all. Another thing is that I did upload my driver and that didn't help too, obviously and as I expected.

I also knew that it would not help to do a full clean re-install but I still did it, started up the game and it's still the same problem. Also I have no clue what you mean by getting new set of files? How?

I mean, post here a new dxdiag.txt, settings.txt, and the other files I asked for in post #2. Just to be sure I'm working off current information, and maybe something will catch my eye ...

You can still get the dxdiag and setup txt from my old post. It's the same stuff you know ..

If you've updated the video driver, then the dxdiag won't be the same. And the game has had several patches since then, so the game files may not be the same either.

Look, I understand you are annoyed the game is failing for you (I'm annoyed I haven't been able to help you yet! I have a pretty fair record of success here). But I'm not asking for these files again to irritate you, or to put you off, it's all I can think of to try to progress this situation. And, I never got your settings.txt at all.

Settings.txt file here: http://www.mediafire.com/view/buad5oy64bp9l1e/settings.txt

As for dxdiag, I really don't understand you. I updated just the video driver. And the video driver is 344.48 GeForce Game Ready driver. GTX 650 as you already know. Nothing else is changed (literaly) except the game updates and that's it.

Now to explain some things about the settings text. I don't play in fullscreen I play in windowed and the resolution that I have is custom so that I can move the window and mouse correctly. If it's windowed and 1920 by 1080 then you can't go right of the map because the window is blocked so I made it smaller. Anyway, no going fullscreen does not help, no changing resolution does not help either. And drivers don't cause such problems as these, I've no problems with EU IV. Albeit I barely play it

OK, last shot: let's try simplifying the graphics as much as possible, and fix one problem in that file.

refreshRate=60

draw_trees=no

draw_postfx=no
draw_sky=no

draw_citysprawl=no

I did all that, problem still persists. As for the "problem" in the file I assume you mean refreshrate? Yeah I set it to 60, it resets to 0. So I set it to 60 again, locked the file with writing proteciton but the game gives me a Runtime + error when I press play in launcher so I guess it's probably not working with windowed mode .. The rest of the stuff didn't help, even with fps in all honesty .. Really sad because I love this game and this problem is very annoying when you're in battle and have to browse the map. I mean there's no lag just standing still, but when you move the camera it starts.

Hello, i'm getting a similar issue, but only under certain circumstances: if any of big empires (those arab states with ~200k armies) are in war with someone, days start to take 2-3 seconds on speed 3/5 instead of 2-3 days/sec as usual. I wonder, maybe when those arab states with ~500 provinces start raising their armies and move those it's starting to get harsh? Maybe animations for those armies are still being processed despite them mostly being in fog of war for me? Because when those guys are at peace, game plays fine, and I got an almost top-notch gaming laptop from late 2013 (Core i7-4700Hg 2.4 HHz, 24 Gb RAM, GeForce GTX 770 3Gb video RAM).

Yes that is a known issue once you get huge empires that cover half the world. If they explode in rebellion, or go into civil war, the game just can't cope. There's no real fix for that, aside from just working your way through it, or manually editing out a bunch of the rebels.

Just kind of strange, because my own empire is about 720 holdings at the moment and I had rebellion recently when my old ruler died and his half-competent grandson inherited. Had no similar issues when those rebels were in my empire. But every time some damn caliph declares jihad on me or joins my holy war vs some lowly sultan - it happens.

Hi guys, I had this issue started for me since I updated my NVIDIA driver a few weeks ago:

I have a GeForce 765M, with 344.60 version installed. I am starting to wonder if there is an interference between the driver and the game maybe ?

Also chiming in here with the same issue. Game stutters with every day that passes. GeForce 650 Ti BOOST, also installed the new drivers most recently released by nvidia, but not too sure that's the problem. Didn't start becoming an issue until deep in the game (1339, not-too-big Wendish Empire, 270 holdings, trying to restrain my own blobbing, started at the Charlemagne bookmark) one of the big Muslim blobs are at war (they cover North Africa, Hispania, recently took over Aquitaine, France, and Middle Francia), so maybe it's a result of the out-of-control Islamic mega-empires. Tried LAA, when it first started rebooting my computer gave me a few hours of smoothness, but that doesn't seem to work anymore.

ck2game.exe comes as LAA-aware already, there's no need to do that manually any more. That's been the case since 1.06 IIRC.

So, there's still no fix of this problem?
As you can seen in my previous post here - over 9 years ago - the issue discussed in this thread is long fixed. You will have an unrelated problem.

Please start a new thread with full problem history and system details. Thanks.
