Game Freezes on Same Date

Sorry for the long post wanted to give as much info as possible, also sorry if in wrong place or there is a similar post.

I have been playing a game starting from 876 and am up to 1279. On the date 13th march 1279 the game will always freeze even when loading an earlier save, when i save just before the date and load in it wont freeze until the next month. I don't have any mods installed and the game was started on the last update and updated to this one.

When the game freezes the mouse still moves and the game doesn't crash. I have verified my files on steam, i also checked the logs but don't know which one would help, i also looked up in the save game file the date but don't know which one is broken. I think is may be an event however i need help finding which one it may be. i don't want to start over as i was thinking of buying the europa universalis 4 converter and playing a mega campaign and don't want to lose weeks of progress(i play the game on second speed setting). If anyone could take a look at the save files and logs and find a solution that would be great.

It could be that my laptop cant handle it is on the extreme low end of the specs(i have turned off trees, bloom etc) but it has been consistent through out my save until now will test it on my desktop when i get it shipped to me.

The Holy Roman Empire save file is from when i switched to try get past the date, it worked but then the game froze the next month. Latest save is Alba1279_04_15.

Was this game started under 2.8, or a previous patch like 2.7.2 ? If the latter you should revert to 2.7.2 (in the Steam betas tab for this game) and pick it up from before you applied 2.8 to it.

I have the same issue. Freezes every time on 6. april 1958. I tried reverting to 2.7.2, but cannot load Ironman game there.
I hope you can somehow fix it!

When I go to load that save under 2.8 it says it was started under an earlier version. You should in general only run IM games under the version they were started under; once they are loaded under a later patch they save automatically and so can never be continued under their original version.

I hope you can somehow fix it!

Ironman games are encrypted and cannot be edited or rescued in any way, I'm afraid.

However that save runs fine under the internal beta of the next patch, so just put it aside until that comes out.

Thanks for the helpful reply. I look forward to the next patch. In the meantime I started another game, which runs great. (My crashing IM game also ran great for a few days under 2.8.0, and several other versions before that - I play a lot at some points, but then abandon the game for weeks maybe months). Will be more careful in the future.
