Hello,

Have the latest patch, 1.03b, and am the game freezes upon loading of a saved game. Initially it was only when I tried to save the game, or when it tried an autosave; now it won't even load the scenario.

Is this a known bug for this patch?

Not that I know of. Lots of people play without problems.

Have you been able to play before with previous patches, did you have any problem with them?

One problem that did occur for some was the expanding save game file. It kept getting bigger and bigger.

However this should not effect a new game you try and start.

Please give us some more info like computer config.

Well, at first I thought it might be the expanding game error, where the game size becomes ungodly. So I downloaded the tool someone created that modifies the saved game file. After doing that, however, I saw the freezing.

The saved games have become really large. I went back to an older saved game, and it loaded. However, it takes 15 minutes to load.

Machine

P4 1.5GHz
512MB 2700 RAM
Radion 9700 Pro with 128MB
 
Here are my suggestions:
1) Make sure your Video and Audio drivers are up to date.
2) Make sure your operating system has all the patches installed.
3) Rename your AVI folder to AVI_Back
4) Select no sound in the HOI config program

If none of the above allow you to start a new game then you must completely wipe HOI from your system and reinstall.
Then apply only the 1.03b patch.
When wiping the game from your system make sure you delete all the folders manually.

Well, I determined, somehow, that saved game was corrupted, but I did find a tool one of the players created that reduces the size of the saved game file (I know it's a known issue). My games load MUCH faster, and save quickly as well.

My game crashes when I try to save them. I have one save in 20. of august 1941, which works well, but when I start that one and try to save the next day it crashes again and again and again. The 20th of august save is about 175 mB large

I have spent a couple of weeks playing this far on the timeline, and wonder if there are any solutions to this. :(

I run Win XP - all patches and have all the latest sound and graphics drivers installed.

This is the expanding save bug. In that thread you will find a link to a program that will fix your saves.
 
Yes it is fixed in 1.04.
 
Are you saying that your save game file is 100meg???
ie you are experiancing the expanding save bug, with a game started under 1.04?
