Often when I save screenshots (F11), or save game files. I also had that issue while just raising levies.

Can you confirm your version and checksum please. Also please post settings.txt, system.log and error.log files (you'll need to rename the .log files to .txt to upload).
 
Checksum MLDO, patch 1.04 .

Basically, the game freezes sometimes just after a screenshot is saved or a game is saved (never happened in autosave, though).

I uploaded the files. Though I assume they get overwritten each time the game executable is started, don't they ?

Well I have to say that looks basically OK. We'll have to try a few things. Edit settings.txt (saving your current copy first) and make all the mapRenderingOptions =no , master_volume=-1 (that's a minus one) , fullScreen=no, resolution 1024x768, and hints=no . Now see if you still get those problems.
 
After a new freeze (3 minutes ago), I looked at the error file :

The game was bought through gamersgate, not sure if that matters .

Edit settings.txt (saving your current copy first) and make all the mapRenderingOptions =no , master_volume=-1 (that's a minus one) , fullScreen=no, resolution 1024x768, and hints=no . Now see if you still get those problems.
Just to give a bit of feedback, setting all mapRenderingOptions to "no" means that the game screen is, quite logically, entirely black (as nothing gets drawn), so there is no map, water, terrain or anything (well there are the dynasty shields and names of countries, but except for that it looks like the dark side of earth seen from space ). The master_volume set to -1 disable sounds.

Which of the rendering options in particular could be suspicious and should be disabled in priority ?

These "errors" are normal and nothing to do with your problem.

I was too general there, most of those options do nothing. Just the trees, I guess.

I know that setting master_volume=-1 disables sound, that was the whole point - to see if sound might be causing this issue. We saw a similar thing under EU3.
