As per my previous post, can you please add your details to the Bug Reports thread on the problem. Thanks.

Hi everyone, I wasn't sure if a separate Thread is better since I saw multiple with the same Problem.
The Game minimizes and then crashes after a short while of playing. It seems to be when in game time is running, since it doesn't crash when the time is stopped.

I tried the "disable full-screen optimizations" and select the full-screen display mode, Vsync off, refresh rate 60. But all that does is the game Freezes instead of minimizing and i have to restart since the game overlay blocks the desktop below (cant use Task Manager to end application).
Reinstalling fixed the problem for one day but continued after that with the same behavior.

I hope i have all relative files attached. The logs folder just had an empty error.log and no exception.log
The exeption.txt and second system.log and settings.txt are from the last crashes folder.

Hope you can help and have a nice weekend

Hi everyone, I wasn't sure if a separate Thread is better since I saw multiple with the same Problem.
Normally separate threads are best, but in this case I'll merge you with the other thread, as it is certainly the same cause and nothing I can help with.

Don't know if this helps but a few more things i noticed.
After starting a new game the problems didn't accrue before year 60 or shortly before that and the crash always seams to be after one month of game time.

I wasn't able to find the Bug Reports thread I requested be made on this crash/minimise issue - did someone actually make one?

Can you post a link in this thread please, if so?

I posted in the bugs forum for this issue, though I didn't use the same thread name so that is probably why you can't find it it. Link is https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...amount-of-time-playing.1696783/#post-29824764

As a side note, I recently replaced my old somewhat creaky computer with a completely different build, I haven't had much time to play since but I have had no crashes with the new system. The new system is not just much faster but also a different manufacturer for pretty much all components. My old computer which had this issue was an old Ryzen 5 AMD processor, NVIDIA geforce graphics (1050 GTX 2mb if I remember right) and a hard disk drive. The new system is Intel i7 and AMD graphics based with SSD so it might be worth investigating if this is an issue with the older NVIDIA graphics cards and the current drivers for them.

I will also add this info to my bug report

I've edited your title to mention the minimising aspect, thanks.

I have the exact same problem, but have a i7 14700KF, And a gigabyte motherboard 2gb SSD Kingston and a RTX 4070 i have tested a new reinstall with mods and without, the game runs fine for a few years then starts crashing more often for each year passing now it crashes before the annual save.

This thread is specifically about the game minimising, but you don't mention that. If you are not seeing that you have a different problem.

With that CPU, You very likely have the CPU/bios hardware issue discussed here:

FIRST please check for an updated bios. Then please implement the “Intel Default” option in it, if present.

Good luck!

I have the same problem. Minimizing, the game shrinks to the upper-left corner of the screen and not responding.
Did you add yourself to the Bug Reports thread on the issue, as linked above?

That said I've seen no new reports of this for ~ 2 months ...

This issue is still happening with me. I am currently attempting aforementioned fixes in the thread. I have a 1080 Founders edition paired with a 14900k. Just wanted to throw my hat into this sample and let y'all know this issue is still persisting.

Update: solved the crashing by turning off Turbo Mode under CPU advanced settings in BIOS. My motherboard is an ASUS Z790-P. This thread gave some helpful pointers. https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...ration-intel-processors.1591821/post-29305331

Specifically, you were getting the minimising symptom too? Because I'm not aware of a connection between that and that Intel CPU hardware issue.

I was getting that exact symptom too. The game would suddenly stutter for about half a second, minimize itself to desktop, and upon tabbing back in the resolution is scrunched to the top left of the screen and the rest is pitch black. Queue Stellaris.exe has stopped responding. Very frustrating issue as it would happen seemingly quite randomly, couldn't ever pin it to month ticks nor notifications, etc., and very often, from 30 seconds in game to 5 min to 15 min. I think as it got later in the game the frequency of the crashing increased and thus was becoming more of a constant nuisance.

I've suddenly started getting an issue where Stellaris will freeze and then minimize. When the game is re-opened, it is only visible in a small portion of the top left of the window, and the remainder is black.

I have the same issue. This makes the game effectively unplayable for me.

Game version is v3.14.15.
Windows 11 on AMD Ryzen 7 3800X, 48 GB RAM, Samsung SSD 870, NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti.

Your error logs are very different from all the others in this thread. Are there any mods in use here?

However the exceptions log is the same, pretty much - all those empty lines. By now I can only assume this is a game bug, although I can't recall any game having a bug anything like this ever!

Has anyone posted this in Bug Reports as yet?
I tried. But then someone moved mine here. And no one has responded in a week.

As mentioned already, I tried to post mine in bug reports, and someone moved it here. Even though I'm pretty sure it's not something tech support could help with anyway. (Sorry, if there is one thing I know, it's my computer.)

Same thing(s) have happened. It did minimize and go to the upper left of the screen. Nothing was running in the background that would have made it minimize itself. I tried the initial fix listed here. It worked.... until I logged out and logged back in the next day. That day (yesterday) it ALSO began blue screen crashes on my system! Like WHOA!

I do have Nvidia graphics, and mine is RTX 4060 Ti. So it is looking specific to Nvidia graphics, at least. I already tried the driver updates on *everything* as you can see in my other thread on *this* forum. But I keep it all up-to-date normally, and the graphics card was only two weeks overdue when I checked.

I can't play. Period. And I, too, just bought all of the latest DLC. Machine Age was indeed part of it. Now I feel like I wasted my money. All I did was pay money to make the game unplayable! Also, no issues before downloading all of that. However, I did also upgrade my computer since the last time I played and everything is about twice as fast now. Except Stellaris, of course.

And no other games affected. Everything I own from They Are Billions, to Oxygen Not Included, to Fallout 76 (which is pretty trash as far as bad coding) doesn't cause this.

I'm going to add details to the bug reports forum, but let's HOPE it stays over there this time!

I encountered this issue on a modded playthrough. This tip is thus less likely to be relevant for most people, but I figured I would share it anyway.

As far as I can tell, for me, the crash was tied to having a ground army fleet with more than ~1000 armies in it. I split that really big army in two and stopped getting the crash and if I merge them again I instantly crash, so if anyone else is having this issue, its possible that this could help.
