Ok thank you folks, I am happy that I found the problem.
I am going to buy some 512 mb ram, to make up for 640 MB ram, hope this is good enough for HoI:D .

Well, I´d like to tell you guys that you do a veery well done job here, that the work you provide to the HoI comunity is unvaluable ! :)

Have a nice day,

Nuclear Winter , with his soon to be high mb ram

Positive feedback is always apreciated. :)

Hey folks, sorry to be back here...
I have just installed 512 MB ram and it did not help with the crash... could someone help?
Riso mentioned that I should try to disable the fancy WinXP interface, how do I do that?
Besides I have deactivated most of the programs....
Please aid,
Nuclear Winter,
Sadened PC user :(

I am sorry but it is almost impossible to diagnose general computer problems over the net.

Since many of your programs are crashing I would say you have some kind of interupt conflict or your Harddrive has problems, or or or ... you get the idea. Lots of possible causes.

Best thing to do is take it to someone that knows how to fix computers.

Just some parallel thinking here. How big is your save game file, there is a bug that if you do a lot of saving and loading during a game the file will get sooooo big that everything really slows down.

The files can be found in the HoI directory under savegames in the Scenario directory - the file should be between 5-6Mbits.

Sorry if I take you down the wrong track but I had this issue - computer really slowing down whilst playing and this was the cause.

If your same agmes are too big the is a script on the forum to fix it.

Cheers, Ice:cool:

Cheers!

Hey folks, hello again
It seems that I fixed the problem (though I fear that if I scream it way to loud it will come back as it did last time :D )
A finnish friend of mine acessed my pc remotely and did some stuff in the virtual memo settings and it seems to be working once again. Ley us hope so!
And once again thanks for you guys in here, you all are very friendly and nice, and you do an Invaluable service to the HoI comunity ; you guys rock!
HAve a veery nice day!!!
Nuclear Winter
Happy that now he can play HoI once again, and so satisfy his soul

This would not effect other programs though.

It wouldnt hurt to try Cacheman for your virtual memory settings.
It is free and from here:-

It will automatically look after the virtual memory. It will certainly do no harm. Only try it if you have problems again though - dont want to rock the boat :)

You should certainly get all the updates for XP - there are some vital security ones for instance. It will take some time to download but they are worth it.

My HOI gets extremely slow when war is declared as well. I have 1 GB of memory and a 1.2 gHz Processor.

Is this with a game started under 1.04?
