Game is corrupt please restart

Hi, I was gifted Legacy of Rome DLC, and so firstly, the game prompts me to put in CD-Key when game starts, well Steam does. but there is no option for it. I google it, and it suggested to register it on here, which I did. Everytime I start the game now I can no longer click on the multiplayer button due to it saying it is corrupt. I registered the games here, my email is verified, and the Game + DLC show in my steam library. Its frustrating. Any tips?

Did you start a new single-player game and then exit to the menu? You have to start the game and go directly to multiplayer.

The above is the most common issue.

If that doesn't resolve it, verify the game cache through steam, it almost always fixes the issue.

Also, disable your mods, since they can break multiplayer too.

The game isn't actually corrupt, it basically just says that because the checksum has been modified (which happens if you went into singleplayer first and exited out to the main menu). When you load up again, your checksum should be back to normal and you should be able to play multiplayer again.

Thanks for the help everyone. I guess it was as the first poster had stated. Though, this is the first game I ever touched to where it would disable multiplayer after launching, playing some, then leaving a single player game. Doesnt make much sense to me, but at least its good to know that it wasnt a significant issue. Thanks!
