Game keeps changing language by itself

Despite being russian, I have always player paradox games in english. Recently, after reinstalling Victoria 3, my Paradox launcher switched to russian. I can't figure out how to change it back, and every time I start Victoria 3 there is like a 75% chance it will just switch to russian for no reason

Launcher language and game language are separate settings.

Launcher language is set in "Launcher settings" down the lower-left of the launcher; game language under Game-settings at the centre-left of the launcher page. It is held in Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/pdx_settings.json

Which of these are you having this problem with, or is it both?

OK, so I went to launcher settings and there were no language settings there. But at this point launcher language isn't really that important to me. The problem is that despite manually changing the language in the files, the game still starts in russian. Like, I went into the Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3/pdx_settings.json, changed "l_russian" to "l_english" and the game started in english just fine, but then I started the game this morning, and it's in russian again, even though I didn't change anything since yesterday. Are there any Steam launch options that could maybe force the language onto english

Can I see a screenshot of your launcher settings? Because it is hard to understand how you cannot be getting a language choice there. Current launcher version is 2025.8 , is that what you see?

That is definitely odd. Did the setting in the file change back too?
