This game is in ironman mode and has been going from 769 to 1154. It started crashing on September 13th, and after restarting a few times it managed to make it to October, and sometimes it made it to November. The furthest I got was February, and it still kept crashing on the 13th.
This really sucks because it was my first successful world conquest with defensive pacts and during Jade Dragon, and I had just put my aunt on the Dragon Throne. I suspect the CTDs might have something to do with the extremely high amount of live characters running around due to the fact that there are barely any wars anymore and that the Black Death came around over 150 years ago.
Last time I did a world conquest starting in 769, it was right after reaper's due and the game started getting pretty damn slow around the 1200s and I never actually finished. In this game, it only really started being slow after I was the only independent ruler left in the game for some reason. I'd like to actually be able to get the persistent survivor acheivement at some point.
System info:
Windows 10 verson 1703, OS Build 15063.786
Processor : Intel Core i7 - 4700HQ CPU @ 2.40GHz
Installed RAM: 12.0 GB (11.9 GB usable)
System type: 64-bit operating system, x64 based processor
I've attached the save file. I started out when Jade Dragon first came out, and I eventually switched to the beta patch (although I switched back briefly at the end to see if that resolved the issue). Using no mods and all DLC. Tried verifying the game cache and it didn't work.
Update: Just tried deleting all files, including in Documents and Steam/Common, and then reinstalling on my SSD, and the game made it to April this time. To clarify, it's not really a crash exactly, but more of a freeze where I can still hear the music and move the cursor but the game doesn't respond to anything. This also happened to me one other time when I was playing the Game of Thrones mod, but I chalked it up to a problem with the mod and not CK2.
