Hey all, wanted to ask you guys about your favorite mods for the game. I liked the game at its base for having a lot of potential, however I find the game loses a lot of its luster as you play. So this game has been out for a while and I was hoping that maybe someone has took a few cracks at improving some of the content of the game.

Basically what I am asking is for a short on your favorite mods. While you like them, what they do better, and any problems you have had with them. It would make me very happy know what you all think. Thanks

There really aren't that many to choose from, the modding base for this game is quite small. Lofman's mod ( http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?362438-Lofman-s-Little-Mod ), Reign of the Ancients ( http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...he-Ancients-Download-and-readme&daysprune=100 ) and Epigoni ( http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?502-Epigoni ) are the major once that, as far as I know, have versions that work with recent patches to the game. I prefer Epigoni as it adds alot of stuff to the game, but so does Lofman's and I haven't really played around with Reign of the Ancients to assess that mod.

I suggest you try them all, as these are the ones that add alot of features to the game as of now. Hopefully one of them tickles your fancy.

Agreed with Vanin, try a campaign with each of the major mods and you should be able to find which one suits you better. All of them could easily be what the game should have been like from the start.

Personally, I've played a lot of Epigoni and quite enjoy that (the map extension certainly helps!), but to be honest I haven't played any of them in quite a while.

I always add your Total Conquest Mod to any Mod I play! Adds more severe conquest options.
I have also created an event which is a copy of your rebel held province asking for help as a barbarian
one asking for help! Love being able to diploannex vassals too!!!!

I just picked Rome back up after a long time letting it collect hard-drive dust. Lofman's mod is very easy to install, doesn't overhaul too much, and brings some new depth and options to the game, highly recommended for starters.

I haven't tried Lofman's mod, but I played Epigoni and Reign of the Ancients. While RotA has a nice feature thread, it lacks compared to Epigoni. I like Epigoni the most because it adds a lot of cool stuff. RotA removes siege assaults completely and makes roads almost useless. But Epigoni has a larger map and tons of new events, laws and decisions. It also expands the timeline and focuses more on history and dynasties. The Total Conquest Mod is also included in Epigoni, along with many others. Until Hardradi updates the mod to work with the latest patch, you can play it with 2.35.

You can just play all of them and choose the one you like. Whichever you choose, they certainly improve a lot over the vanilla. I'm still hoping for another expansion some day...
