i have a question, my comp isnt that slow, yet hoi2 , in all versions, mods, etc, seems to start lagging in 1940 and it lags like hell in '44 scenario. on extremely fast, one '44 scenario day will take 10-12 secs. for another person with 2.2GB RAM, while i have 1.75GB RAM, it will take 2 seconds on extremely fast(for the person with 2.2GB RAM). i hav never defragged my comp, and i got it about 2 yrs ago, so i can imagine it is fragged up beyong all recognition, so would doing a full defrag of my comp/ hoi2 folders speed it up? i refuse to believe that 0.5GB RAM more will make hoi2 run from 2 seconds, to 12 seconds. and i ve alredy tried deleting sprites, closing all programs and stopping all but the most necessary services in the task manager, and nothing has worked. ive even tried not using the "pic" folder at all. (imagine no minister or leader pics at all.(

Okay, I would highly recommend running a defrag session on your computer. :( Also use disk cleanup. It's inside the System Tools menu under the Accessories panel in the start menu. Also, try downloading and running a program called Spybot SD. It's available for download for free. See link:

www.safer-networking.org/

It'll clean up anything else lurking around in your hard drive. It's a spyware and adware removal tool and I'm a very high supporter of it because in my personal opinion it is simply the best of its kind out there. It's very reliable. :D It puts McAfee, Norton and the like to shame. (I know that most people think spyware and adware only affect their internet connection speeds, but it can affect other programs as well.) See if all or any of that helps and write back.

EDIT: If you decide to use Spybot, run the auto update immediately after installing to ensure that it will be able to look for as many types as possible. The updates aren't that large and don't take very long to download either.
