I had been playing the game just this weekend but with the launch of Mac OS 10.15.1 it stopped working.
The launcher will open, and execute the game but then just CTD.
The only change on my system was an automatic Mac OS update.

Any ideas for a fix?

So it worked under 10.15 , is that right?

If so, this may need a fix from Apple - if they broke it they ought to fix it!

Might be worth doing a clean reinstall of the game though:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-Imperator
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Imperator AND Documents/Paradox/Imperator folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add imperator.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Imperator or Documents Imperator locations, before installing again.

**File Locations on Mac OS X**
The executable and DLC folder are in Users/USER/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Imperator/
On OS X 10.8.x and later, Apple have hidden the /Users/USER/Library/ folder. To see it go to the Finder, hit command-shift-G (ie Go To) and type in ~/Library/ .
The user files (settings.txt, error logs, saved games, gfx, mods) are in /Users/USER/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Imperator/ .

Tried clean reinstall. no luck.
Deleted the one mod I had running (new flag for carthage). All my other paradox games launch. ck2 hoi eu4 etc.

Do you get an Apple crash report? If so paste its contents into a text file and attach that here, thanks. And submit ti to Apple.

Goodness. Unfortunately I don't have a 10.15 or 10.15.1 machine to try this on for you, I'm staying on 10.14.6 for a while.

Probably best to post it in Bug Reports, hopefully QA can test this to confirm whether this is a general issue or just you.

Same issue here OS 10.15.1 reported to paradox here is the response... I've escalated this to the Imperator team as we aren't quite sure what the cause is nor how to fix it ><. I'm assuming it's the same problem that others have reported on our forum

It happened to me same scenario but it was when Steam pushed an update. I’ve tried everything with no change
