Game Not Found At tThis Address Error

I hope this is the right forum...

Me and my friend have the same version of EU2...obviously, we checked on Valkyrie.net

We did a reinstall to get rid of unlimited time/pop patches and a clean reinstall to 1.09

When we try to launch, we get "No game found at IP xxx..." no matter who is hosting.

Internet games using the IP also get this error mssg.

I have multiple copies of EU2 installed, for MYMap, Mongol Empire, and AGP/EEP....I hope that isn't the problem 'cause I'd really hate to have to reinstall all of them.

Help me please because we are totally missing out on the multiplayer functionality of this game!

edit: neither of us are using routers, windows firewall off, no internet security software on, etc etc

Well, if you don't use any router, no firewall : this means that your ISP doesn't give you access to all the possible ports. Contact them and ask for a public IP.
