Game not responding when trying to start the game

Hey.


First i just wanna say that i had a whole bunch of issues that started after the minor patch released 2-3 days after the Songhai expansion. I had to go through all the reinstall steps and download the 2 separate software's to make it work.

Since then its been working even if the constant mini freezes that start being something that happens once or twice a month in the start, but towards the end of my games it forces me to pause the game to do basically anything at all. It's almost like every single day has a short mini freeze. Kinda similar like how it can feel in multiplayers when there's a delay before units start to move after you give them an order, just waaaaaay worse.
And it worked perfectly without issue before that update, and my computer is rather new so it should be no problem.

But anyway, I just bought a new hard drive so i reinstalled and transferred all my games over to that one. And i once again went through the steps of deleting the files in documents, the user folder, i deleted my epic games launcher and paradox launcher files. But now im back to not being able to start the game. The problem i have now is that the game comes up in the taskbar but freezes before it pops up. It blocks the usage of my mouse so i have to kill the process using my keyboard.

I tried to start it from the game directory as well but its the same thing.

Any help would be appreciated!

Try to change the display mode to borderless fullscreen in the launcher like in the following screenshot (it looks slightly different in the current launcher version)

Rofl... i tried that yesterday and it didnt work... but i still tried it again now and it worked...

Any clue about the lagging/freezing issue? :/

Unfortunately not. If you search for stutter or stuttering on this forum you can find others with similar problems. But it is usually described as a more regular stuttering than what you describe. So your problem might be something else.
Do you still have the same problem in your new windows installation?
You could try if going back to an older patch helps(e.g. 1.32.0). If an older patch now also shows the problem, but you didn't have the problem with that patch before, it is likely that something outside eu4 is at least partially responsible. I have the suspicion that graphics drivers or windows activate or deactivate some optimization specific for eu4 as long as they recognize eu4 as a known program. And a new patch is not recognized at first till the vendor adds the new version to their database.
