I just bought Imperator: Rome today and every time I play it the game freezes. There isn't a single in-game action that triggers it, it seems completely random and can happen 2 mins into a game or 30.

Sometimes the screen flickers black briefly before it does so, but not always. Once the game freezes it is visually completely unresponsive, however if I left click or press 'esc' it still triggers the sound effect as if the game is operating normally.

The game doesn't show as 'Not Responding' in the windows task manager.

This has happened in fullscreen mode, borderless windowed and windowed mode. It has also happened with V-Sync on and off.

My Graphics Card Drivers are up to date, there are no windows updates pending, and I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the game.

Any help would be appreciated here...

*edit*
It's probably actually more accurate to describe the game as unresponsive than saying it's 'frozen' as the mouse cursor continues to move with the mouse, it's just that clicking doesn't do anything (other than trigger a sound effect).

Do CK2, EU4, HOI4 and Stellari srun okay on this machine?

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/Imperator/pdx_settings.txt.
From your Documents/Paradox/Imperator/logs/ folder, attach system.log .

Hi AndrewT, yes all the other Paradox games I have run absolutely fine on this machine (my primary gaming PC).

Attached are all the files you asked for.

Can you try unplugging the Oculus hardware from this machine please, and see if th egame will start okay then?

When you get this problem do you have to power the machine off to get past it? I ask because there are a number of LiveKernelEvent entries in that dxdiag, and if that's not what's has triggered them then there may be some Windows or hardware problem here.
