Game speed

I just played the War of independance and got my butt kicked I found there was a lot going on at once so i tried to change the game speed however, it seemed tomake no difference if i Ctrl + or - to the game speed. What is the slowest speed? 1 month a minute?

If your Ctrl buttons aren't working, you can go to menu and change the speed from the options page. Also, remember that you can pause the game while you issue orders and get your wits about you. I find that it is very important to do this when you are fighting a 2 front war, for example.

As far as I know, 1 minute = 1 month is the slowest game speed.

I think you can go down to 2 minutes = 1 month.


Anyway, to change the game speed, you the +/- keys (along with Ctrl) on the Number Keypad, not the ones by the Backspace key.

Slowest speed is 5 minutes = a month.

Wow, it is 5 minutes = 1 month. At the select scenario screen, I'd only seen 1 minute = 1 month. I saw the 5 min. for the first time by accessing the menu screen during the game.

Ahhh, I have been playing for weeks now and have been wondering why the f...... keys don't work. Thank you!

In solo games you can also set many game events to automatically pause the game. They are a little irritating because the game automatically unpauses when you remove the dialog box. You remove the dialog box to take the necessary action so you have to manually reapply the pause. Still, it makes controlling a far flung empire much easier. Otherwise you finally declare peace in the current war to find all your merchants have been thrown out of their overseas CoT's while you were busy elsewhere.

Make sure you don't have NUM LOCK on, and use the numeric keypad '+' and '-'. Watch the message window at the bottom of the screen when you change speed, and it will echo what the new setting is.
