Hi everyone! I'm new here, so I apologize if I write in the wrong forum.

I commenced playing this month, I have about 60 hours played. Today I started experience some crashing. I was playing normal and around 1884-1886 the game crashed stright to desktop.

This is the main problem (based on log files):

[18:49:14][jomini_script_system.cpp:270]: Script system error!
Error: Event target link 'owner' returned an invalid object
Script location: file: common/political_movements/00_ideological_movements.txt line: 1444

The game version is 1.8.6. I have no modes and no DLC. It is the first time I have a crash on this game.

I will attach the log files! Hope you can help me!

Is this crash repeatable from a save file? Or when you re-load that save you can carry on past the crash point?

If the former, AND if there are no mods involved, this is very likely a game bug I'm afraid. In that situation please make a new thread in Bug Reports and attach the affected save game there.

Yeah! If I try to continue from the last saved game, it crashes. This being the case, I will make a new thread explaining the case in Bug Reports. Thank you!!

Started happening for me as well. Game was fine as Austria last weekend. Started a new USA campaign on 2/25 and getting lots of CTD, and a few system freezes. Did y'all push out a new patch on Monday or Tuesday?
 
reverted windows back to 2/19 and played for a few hours with no crashes or freezes.

There have been no updates to this game since December last year, so whatever happened to you was a local issue.

Maybe a Windows or video driver or antivirus update?
 
Andrew, as always thanks for your attention. Not sure what's going on. I believe there was a windows update on 2/25, which was the day I started to have problems. Seeing any other issues related to this Windows update?
 
Well, the Windows 11 24H2 version is a problem all across the computer industry at present. But as you appear to have Windows 10 that can't be affecting you; I'm not aware of any such general problem on Win10 - and boy we'd know if there were!

It shows as Windows 10 in those system.log files ... @PDX_Sosanna is that an issue you are aware of?

@LiberiusX if you have Windows 11 24H2 then you'll be experience the same problem that AFAIK all users with that version are.

Some affected users have definitely seen that help them with this issue. Do try this first as it has a decent record of success!

Also make sure your Nvidia driver is the latest, mid-Feb at present.,

And if nothing else helps, switch the renderer to Vulkan in the launcher-game settings menu - performance will likely be worse but users are reporting it stops the PC freezes!

what system.log files are you referring to?
The only log files in this thread are uploaded by the OP facumartok, who has a completely separate issue (I suspect it's one of the 2 known 1.8.6 CTDs but I would need a minidump file to confirm).

What LiberiusX is describing are likely the known widespread stability issues in latest Windows 11 updates that are still ongoing, despite Microsoft claiming to have made some fixes. I have also raised it with my manager to communicate with CMs and the engine team to get an update on the 24H2 situation.
As a rule, these should always be separate threads as otherwise it leads to confusion.

Looks like I mixed up the two users - this is why I always request each user has their own thread!

@facumartok can you provide any .dmp files you might get after this crash?
