No obvious issue there. You too get a hard hang that means you need to power the machine off, or what? What GPU temps are you seeing?

I'm seeing the same issue running on a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti. DxDiag attached. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to provide more data (e.g. is there a console command to increase the log level?). Thanks!

There seems to be a Intel card in you system as well. If so, make sure your Nvidia is the primary card. Maybe disable the Intel in you bios.
This is from your dxdiag file:

Card name: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
Manufacturer

I'm seeing the same symptom as OP reported, i.e. the visuals of the game freeze, but I can still hear sounds and 'interact' with the game, e.g. hitting escape produces a sound and moving the mouse hovers over pause menu options (also sounds). Nothing else freezes, I have to ALT-F4 out of the game and can then restart it.

The NVIDIA card is the primary card, it's the selected one shown in the options in game. The Intel card is onboard and not used.

i have the exact same problem, sometimes fine for hours, then randomly happening every time , tried withoud mods on diff saves and starting new games,

Had this issue myself, what's strange is that if i play as observer. I can just let the game play on for several years without any issues.

However when i then left that game and tried to start a new one, just by clicking back and forth between a couple of nations froze my screen.

Other than that it's a bit random, can work for a couple of months and freeze for no apparent reason.

Can freeze when map is loaded and you are about to click the starting popup.

Can freeze when you try to adjust your government.

Pretty weird considering I played 8 hours when the game came out. However i did have some crashing issues the first 2 hours.

Made a ticket and got told to update Windows 10 and adjust my dedicated video ram, which i've been trying desperately to change only to fail miserably.

I've pretty much given up now, and are just waiting for a update. Might use observer mode and watch the game once in a while, but i'm all out of ideas for how to actually play a nation.

SOLVED, this is kind of crazy, i saw someone commenting on a different forum how when he decreased the graphic their game would freeze. So i changed the graphics to Medium or whatever, and now it works.... O_O

I will have to try that.

So I think this is the fix. I also updated windows at the same time, but changing the graphics to medium has fixed my screen freezes. The game still runs rather sluggish, but my computer isn't the best. I suppose there is a setting on low graphics that is breaking the game.

I can confirm that switching the graphics from Low to Medium fixed the visual hangup on both my and my boyfriend's laptops. I didn't play around to figure out which specific setting is causing it because the game runs fine on Medium despite both our laptops having integrated graphics.

It seems there was a quirk in the engine that caused this issue.
It should be resolved by the recent Demetrius 1.0.1 hotfix - if you suffered from the issue, please give it a try and let me know if it helped!

I had the same problem in 1.00, and discovered it was having shadows disabled that caused it. Having them enabled made the game stable for some reason. Now the Demetrius update has broken it in a different way for me :-(

How is it broken now for you?
