  • Crusader Kings II
Just purchased the Steam version of Crusader Kings II, got the latest updates and tried to run it. I get to the window where you click Start CKII, when I click to start it, a microsoft windows message comes up stating the following- 'CK2 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.'
I've tried the solution of changing ck2 resolution, my windows firewall is turned off, and I verified integrity of game cache. Any idea what I should try to do?

please post a dxdiag.txt (you can delete everything after the "Sound devices" section for brevity), settings.txt, system.log and error.log files (you'll need to rename the .log files to .txt to upload). Also open setup.log, search for "checksum", and paste that line only in here.

requested files

Here's the requested files.
I couldn't appear to attach the error or setup text files because they're both blank. There is no checksum line in setup log. I went to C:\Users\Name\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II so let me know if I was going to the wrong place for these files. I couldn't find a settings.txt there. There was a setup log file, but as I said before its blank.

[gfx_settings.cpp:263]: Pixel Shader version: 2.0
I'm afraid your machine cannot run the game, its video card does not support PixelShader 3.0 which is a requirement. You can try updating your video driver, which is quite old, but I highly doubt it will help.

Your options are to try to return the game to where you bought it from for a refund, only play it on a machine with a more modern video, or buy a new machine that supports Pixelshader 3.0 .
