Hello

For some time i cannot launch Crusader Kings II at all. When clicking play on steam a message pops out from steam that the game is lauching. For second it shows that i am playing it but then it stops and nothing happen. I've tried reinstalling game, reinstalling steam, veryfying files, turn off antivirus, start as administrator; nothing works. Please help me

The game used to run okay on this same computer, is that right? If so:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK2
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK2 AND Documents/Paradox/CK2 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add ck2game.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK2 or Documents CK2 locations, before installing again.

Also if you have installed RadeonPro, or a gaming VPN app called Evolve, or the MSI Gaming App, or Duet, disable it as it clashes with this game.

IF NEITHER OF THOSE HELP:
DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/CK2/settings.txt.
From your Documents/Paradox/CK2/logs/ folder, attach system.log .

For some reason i don't have Documents/Paradox/CK2/settings.txt. on my system. Also Documents/Paradox/CK2/logs/ folder, attach system.log . isn't there. There is only Paradox Interactive/logs. I don't know if i am doing something wrong here

That is almost always caused by your antivirus app getting in the way of the game creating those folders. Which one(s) do you use?

add ck2game.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

I do have Windows Defender i add ck2 to execeptions list and it does nothing
On top of that you need to add it to the Ransomware "apps allowed through" list in WD. Did you do that too?

Use Notepad to make a new text file called userdir.txt in the Steam CK2 folder where ck2game.exe is. In that file place a single dot, save and exit. This tells the game to write the user files right there instead of under Documents.

Can i see the userdir.txt you made please? You definitely placed it in the same folder as ck2game.exe ?

Did the game make settinhgs.txt and /logs/ folder in the Steam-CK2 folder then?

For some reason file doesn't apper on folder but when i am saving it's there i've just notice

Please attach the userdir.txt file itself, rather than an image of it. Thanks.

I cannot upload just the file because when i click upload file here it doesn't appear, but it is in the same folder as ck2game.exe. I can just upload image

That's strange, because people upload userdir.txt files here all the time.

Right click on it and look in Properties. Does the name show as exactly userdir.txt or something else? Sometimes it ends up being called userdir.txt.txt for instance.

Okay then, that will not work like that. In Properties it needs to be exactly userdir.txt

Well i don't know if this is Windows 10 fault but it still appears as userdir but when i am trying to save it shows that userdir.txt already exist

That's likely as file extensions are hidden by default in the file explorer in Win10.
See how to hide or unhide: http://kb.winzip.com/kb/entry/26/
Check the box for File name extensions as in above link to be sure.
