game won't load

I have been experiencing an occasional ctd while trying to load the game. The load will go through the intro but fail to get to the EU II loading screen and crashes to desktop showing EU II open but not responding. Usually I have to restart my computer to get through the load. I have a Dell 4400 intel 1.8 p4 with 512 mb ddr ram. plenty of hard drive space and a 64 mb nvidia geforce2 graphics card. Any idea what is causing this problem? I sometimes get an error message regarding Bink video.

try renaming you avi folder to something else.

The Binkplayer have been rumored to cause crashes so if you're not fanatic about watching the intro everytime you load the game then rename the folder.

Any suggestions on what to rename to? I tried adding a letter to the front of the folder but problem continues. After restarting computer, Problem seems to go away but returns on occasion.

rename it to whatever....

If the problem is still there, then was not caused by the binkplayer

You could also try switching to a higher resolution.

it will remove your Nvidia drivers, and then you can reinstall the latest version.

Does this only happen when you try to load a game in the middle of playing a game? If so try dropping back to the first menu and loading the save game from there instead.
