Game won't run

Purchased Rome Gold - installed but won't run on my computer. Reinstalled several rimes same result. Installed on wifes laptop and it ran, so there must be something up with my computer. We both have windows XP - I have a Dell Desktop she has an HP laptop that is a bit newer. The register and update buttons for the game on both computers can not be used. Anyway, below is the error message I get when I try to start game. Again reinstalling as suggested does not work.
