Game won't start after 1.0.1 Hotfix

Hi,

I had some initial issues getting Imperator to work, but the "november crash" workaround let me play the last 24 hours without issues on Steam.

Since I updated to 1.0.1 the game won't pass the loading screen anymore and is stuck at InitGame forever.

I already deleted the content of my user folder for Imperator and reinstalled the game, but the problem persists.

I'm on unsupported older hardware, (Dual Core 3 ghz, 8 GB ram, Nvidia GTX 960) but since I was able to play 20 + hours without issues (even the stuttering wasn't affect me much) I wonder if any support for older hardware is dropped by todays hotfix and prevent the game from running.

Is there anything I can try or do I have to give up playing Imperator untill I'm the owner of a new system?

I got the same problem as you i tried loading the 1.0.0 version and it works fine but i cant seem to play te 1.0.1 version

I have the same problem. After 1.0.1 I have some difficulties to load the Initgame part. Someone know how to fix that? But after numerous attempt the game work normally

Ok, maybe I found the problem. If you have an old computer remember to not play whit high statistics. Previously I had set the game to high quality. Now lowering them the game work but I don't know if it can work for you

Thank you all really very much for the support. I tried everything you suggested (special thanks to Sir Roma) and I managed to get the game to work.

For those with older systems like me (not sure, but I suspect that is the case here) my steps what I did to make the game run smooth on my dual processor and bypass the InitGame endless loading screen.

- Manually altered the game settings in user folder (disabled bloom, reflection and changed the values for multisampling and anisotropic filtering).

- Start my game via Steam which brings up the Pdx launcher. Go to settings, set my game to windowed and the lowest possible resolution (1024 x 768).
Game start to run and I can bypass the InitGame loading screen in seconds.

Now I can change the game settings normally back to my native resolution (1080p).
There was however one problem since the UI scale was set to 0.5, and I was not able to change it back to 1 (0.9 was the max).
But changing the resolution one time to another resolution ingame (for example 1680 x 1050) and directly back to 1920 x 1080 also solved this problem. I had smooth text and was able to set the UI back to 1 (but 0.9 actually works very nice).

I started a new game as Macedon and was able to play to the next year without problems and even no stuttering.

Only downside so far, I can't manage to get the game running with my changed settings. It stucks at InitGame in the loading screen. So I have to manually start in low res windowed mode everytime now.

I'm at least happy I managed to get the game back to run on my anthique system after the hotfix.

Your system is fine to play this game, the problem is elsewhere.

What antivirus app do you use? You'll need to add the new Imperator.exe to its exceptions list/whitelist again.

And please do a system file check:

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/Imperator/pdx_settings.txt.
From your Documents/Paradox/Imperator/logs/ folder, attach system.log .

It doesn't work for me anymore. Game won't start, whatever I try. No logs, no errors, just a stop responding when the loading screen reaches InitGame and I have to end process manually.
Even the workaround to start in windowed mode lower resolution doesn't work anymore.

I don't use any external or third party antivirus or other tools, in Windows Defender, like all other Paradox games, Imperator have an exception for both public and private.

I have a simple desktop with one mouse and one keyboard and one monitor. Win10 pro, 1k Steam games that runs perfectly and all games of Paradox catalogue running perfectlty. Imperator V 1.0 was running fine om my dual core processor even without much stuttering and I was able to play 20 hours straight. Only I was affected by the november crash but solved that with the workaround. Also when I install V 1.0 (incl the workaround) I can play normally.

I do the system scan and will provide my DXDIAG when done.

I kind of fixed it for me. I have to install the 1.0.0 patch then i install the 1.0.1 patch and the game will load normalt but i hope there will be a better solution

You installed the older version again? Did you also launched it? Or did you directly applied the 1.0.1 patch afterwards?

Well here is mine the game is added to the Defender list like you said but i still have to load the first patch and then the 1.0.1 to play the game

I went back to V 1.0 that worked 20hours before the Hotfix V 1.1 and the game won't start either. Stuck at InitGame.

I deleted my user files in the user folder for Imperator.
I launch V 1.0 again and I can start normally.

I install the HOTFIX 1.0.1 and game stuck again at InitGame.

Ransomware protection is from Windows Defender isn't enbaled at all.

I don't understand what you mean by downloading the first patch and then 1.0.1. Do you mean you install the previous version first via Steam and then apply the patch? Do you launch the game between this process?

Yes i have to change to the 1.0.0 version of the game through steam, launch the game, exit and then change to 1.0.1 version for it to work.I change the version through game properties on steam otherewise i cant play. i hope they fix this real soon cause its getting on my nerves

All Paradox games works fine for me, I did not even checked the specs for Imperator since I trusted it works.
Besides the workaround for "november crash" I was able to play 20 + hours and enjoy it a lot.

The only way to get the game back to work is to uninstall. To remove all items in my Paradox Imperator user folder and install V 1.0 again and use the Th 4 command in console to prevent it from crashing.

I think is not possible that a game have all this problems, I had payed 39,99€!!!!. When paradox will give us a full game to play whitout all of this? Then the november bug now the Initgame bug. I'm beginning to lose my patience for this game. I think that for now a bad review is coming
