For me the only way to play Is to start in window mode and then change specifics and return to full screen, and I haven't do all the previous step. This for me bypass Initgame for now and other things are normal

Edit:
We will have this bug resolve whit the final release of 1.0.2 or we must to have this pain all the times?

I think it's still not clear what causes it. We both provided dxdiags and others as well. Let's hope they find something.

at least it bypass the InitGame now withot me having to do all those previous steps.
That pretty much proves an antivirus app is in the way of writing to folders in the Windows User Documents folder, which is counted as a System folder. Why not with 1.0.0 I cannot say.

Please install and run the free utility Speccy. Export its output to a text file and attach that here, thanks.

I will do, but why isn't this a problem for V1.0 and all other PDX games I have installed. Believe me if any virus scanner or malware scanner was blocking anything I would have noticed it. I play 20 games a week at least.

But do those games try to make files in the system folders like the Windows User Documents folders? If not they won't be affected. I believe PDS games are unusual in that respect.

FYI the devs confirm the userdir.txt needs to be in the /games/ folder. And you can replace the dot in that file with any valid file path if you want the files to go elsewhere.

From that Speccy file I see you also have \IObit\IObit Malware Fighter\ running, several processes. I'm not familiar with it but could that be getting in the way too?

I haven't see this one before either
C:\Windows\System32\ViakaraokeSrv.exe
but it seems odd to have an app running directly from the System32 Windows system folder?

Thank you again.

ViakaraokeSrv.exe is the tool for my audio driver (Via chipset) that came with the Win10 driver. It's actually detects if I connect a speaker or headset.

iObit Malware fighter does have a real time bit defender option like Win Def has, but it is disabled.

For one reason, I tried a clean install of V1.0.2 again, deleted the user folder for the game. Deleted also the userdir.txt in the game directory.

The game launch now and the only part left to do is alt / tab out of Imperator to make it bypass InitGame at some point.
If I do not alt tab out of the game and use other apps it stays in InitGame forever. (I let it for an hour or so and nothing happened) while when I use alt tab and use other apps while loading it will launch after 3 minutes.

And Imperator isn't the only PDX game uses the system folder.

My bigger fear is that because we are only in two to have this problem paradox will not resolve it whit a patch. The november bug is been resolved because a lot of people had it. This is a problem that have only few people

Not everyone post in the forums. I think specially having to share dxdiags from older hardware some don't want.
But there are more threads of players who have the game stop responding for the same reason maybe.
Also in the Steam forums some players posted about the same problem.

Did you tried to fully empty your user folder for Imperator. Install 1.0.2 directly, launch the game. Set to borderless windowed mode and play the game? Make sure you launch via Steam with the client open (so you can alt tab back to that one) don't touch your pc when it's loading entities, when it reach InitGame, start to use alt tab. Don't click in the Imperator screen itself yet (it will result in a not responding window) and wait till it bypass the InitGame. Have some patience. It can take 10 minutes before cache and terraincache folder will be created.

Some of the problem seems to be resolved with a userdir.txt file and a clean reinstall. Given that, you are right, a fix in a patch is unlikely at present as it has not been demonstrated to be a game bug yet.

Developers need to be able to reproduce a problem to be able to fix it. Unless we can determine what variables cause this to the handful of people experiencing this problem it's hard to see how that is possible.

I don't install 1.0.2 yet because I don't want to lose my file whit phrygia that I'm playing these days. If I start the game in window mode whiteout doing anithing the game work or whit a couple of attempts.

Edit.
What I must to deleat in folder of imperator? And where is this?

It looks like in the end the need to alt/tab at least once while loading to another app, or starting in windowed mode seems the only problem left.

If someone could figure out why it get unresponsive if you let the pc idle.

The User folder referred to is Documents/paradox/imperator/ and all sub-folders (except saved games).

I'm now running that specific situation past the devs, will update here if there are any ideas.

At first i had a november stop problem, then this one.
1.0.2 was able to pass "Init game" with userdir.txt, can these problems be connected?

The very helpful Paradox super moderator AndrewT is asking for DXdiag reports and system specs to send to the devs.
If you share yours as well we might find the cause and the solution together.

That's interesting because that did NOT help @Cablenexus , as I understand it!

I understand the confusion, but in the end it seems I don't need this trick to start the game.

I deleted those usertext files, also the Imperator installation and user folder, installed V1.0.2 the normal way and the game launch.

Without any "trick", except not launching the game with taskmanager open, not start the game in fullscreen and not let the pc idle when loading Imperator, I can now launch the game normally.

Me too, but we want to play this game Whiteout all of this as a normal paradox game

Just installed the new update automatically by Steam. I was not expecting to see a fix for this specific issue yet but I installed in anyway.

The game launch, loading entities, InitGame and game stuck for 10 minutes. I decided to walk around with my dog, came back after 40 minutes, still InitGame.

I alt/tab one time to an open Steam chat window. Within 10 seconds Imperator main menu pops up.

And don't stop working? In the old patch if I do this the game don't work

As long as I only use alt/tab and not click (with mouse) anywhere in the Imperator loading screen.
If I click in the Imperator loading screen while it loads, it turns white and I get a standard "stopped responding" message.
