Reinstalled the game
Reinstalled V c++ and Microsoft NET
No problems with other games
Get all 64 bit versions released since 2010, as it doesn't say what exactly is needed.

Please go here:
And run the x86 and x64 installers there.

IF that doesn't help, also Install ALL these Microsoft modules:
(run dxsetup.exe after extracting this download to its own folder anywhere on your computer)

Add Victoria3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

If those don't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Vic3/pdx_settings.json .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Vic3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.log

The error code displayed translates into hex 0xC000001D, which has as description STATUS_ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION

Most likely cause is a CPU that's too old to support the game. Victoria 3 makes use of AVX CPU instruction extensions. When a CPU doesn't support those, an invalid instruction exception will terminate the startup of the game. Which appears to be the case here.

Mine is giving me the same thing. I can run the game as administrator but I cant run it through the launcher, and i want to play with mods. How do I fix it?View attachment 956366
That is not the same thing at all - you get error Null rather than the one in the OP. In future please make your own new thread, thanks.

What happens if you run Victoria3.exe directly?

Sorry I didn't know how, If I run Victoria3.exe directly it starts up, but still crashes.
Please go here:
And run the x86 and x64 installers there.

IF that doesn't help, Has the game ever run OK on this computer? Or never?

IF NEVER:
Install ALL these Microsoft modules:
(run dxsetup.exe after extracting this download to its own folder anywhere on your computer)

Add Victoria3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

IF IT USED TO WORK:
Please do a full clean re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-Vic3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Vic3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Vic3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add Victoria3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Vic3 or Documents Vic3 locations, before installing again.
