Gamersgate: can't start the game after TOG update

I patched the game, downloaded the TOG and Hymns DLCs, installed them, but when I restarted the game it won't get past the loading screen with the paradox symbol on it (throws an error after a while). Tried emptying the documents folder, restarting the pc, but nothing worked. Please don't tell me that I have to reinstall the game...

Actually, here is the error log:
[texturehandler.cpp:181]: Couldn't find texture file: gfx//event_pictures//aztec_court.tga.

notabene, I don't have the aztec expansion

I am having this same problem, but I don't have TOG. The problem started today. I also do not have the Aztec expansion.

I wish I had turned off Steam updating since I was in a middle of a game

I was able to launch without CK2Plus. If you have that enabled that might be the issue. Well I guess I'll be starting a new game earlier than I thought

i'm not using ck2+, just vanilla
