Summary

G'day, I play Cities Skylines on a PS5 and have just noticed this error. When using the "Highway with Bus-Only Lane (with or without sound barriers) in left lane mode, the bus lane is thrown into the right lane causing significant chaos and traffic jams. It also puts the lane back into the left hand side on corners and elbows before going back to the right again. Thanks for your help and time Dave

Expected Result

Bus lanes in left hand lane when in left hand lane mode

Actual Result

Buses in the far right lane

Steps to reproduce

It just happens

Platform

PlayStation 5

Game Version

Remastered

Optional

Needs a screenshot of the pathing

In the first shot, you can see the bus lane changing from the right to the left (on the elbow) and back to the right.
The second shot shows the bus lane correctly being in the left lane but when it hits the highway, it moves to the right lane.
The third shot shows that before you implement the road or upgrade it, it is ready to use the left lane.
The bus lane should always be on the left-hand side of the road but goes to the right when using highway mode lanes. Normal 4 and 6 lane two-way roads are fine.

There's a bug here for sure, insomuch as the bus lane should always be on the correct side of the road and not flip at a corner, but there is nothing wrong in general with the bus lane positioning. On LH traffic, the bus lane is on the left on standard roads (your snap shows this is correct) and on highways shared with other traffic, the bus lane is designed to be on the outer lane. This is normally standard practice for highways with bus only lanes, and is designed this way otherwise all regular highway users would have to cut across the bus only lane, or queue in the bus only lane in heavy traffic, to be able to leave the highway. There's no requirement for the bus only lane to be on the inside of the highway, as it will only ever be entering or leaving it - no bus stops on a highway of course

The lane positioning is mirrored on RH traffic - standard roads the bus lane is on the right (where the stops are), highways it is on the left side

Examples from real world:
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipe.../1280px-Gyeongbu_Expressway_Bus_Only_Lane.JPG South Korea
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a7/M4_bus_lane_1017020.jpg UK

Obviously this doesn't always apply in real life in every case; my google-fu tells me that New Zealand has shoulder running bus lanes for example, but the above is how it operates in CS. The flip on the elbow is definitely a bug though and I suspect it is to do with the bug that was present where eg. 4 lane 1 way 2u roads had the traffic lights pointing the wrong way if you enabled them at a junction. This was fixed in PS4 version, so I imagine it will be fixed in Remastered when it is at version parity with the PS4 version (ie. when the last batch of DLC is released)

To get around the flip issue, try paring back the two straight segments of the "elbow" by 3-4 units and using curve tool to join them up instead, this should stop it flipping and keep it on the same side of the road
