This might be a DH bug. The text in misc.txt look right. (See below) It should reduce it by 80%, not 100% per the text. If it is then It might be reducing it by 80% of the max amount instead of the actual amount. If so it would seem to be reducing it to zero because very rarely do you get beyond and then upgrade. On the other hand if it is meant to work that way then the documentation is weak.

Text from Iron Cross misc.txt file:

# Enable production line edit (auto-upgrade and serial builds lengths): 1 - Enabled, 0 - Disabled
1 #0
# Gearing bonus loss per level of upgrade for unit. Values 0.0 (0% or no gearing bonus lost) to 1.0 (100% or all gearing will be lost)
0.8 # -0% gearing bonus per level of upgrade
# Gearing bonus loss per level of brigade/attachment (added for every upgraded br./att.). Values 0.0 (0% or no gearing bonus lost) to 1.0 (100% or all gearing will be lost)
0.8 # -0% gearing bonus per level of upgrade

Another associated possible bug : The upgrade checkbox causes a line of light light tanks to auto-upgrade to medium tanks (as they belong to the same model family perhaps?) although I don't think this was wad

I tested the reset by changing the value to .2 and it still reset to 0. I it very likely that this is a DH bug and needs to be posted there.

Ok, I went back and checked by misc.txt file when looking at something else. I edited the wrong line.

There are 2 lines that effect the gearing bonus. One for divisions and one for brigades. I had only edited the brigade line. After insuring that both where modeled to .2 I started a new game. The results where a 20% of be max value subtracted from by current gearing bonus. This is not what I would think at first read.
