how is the situation 4 genoa on EEP?
there are new events and leaders?

thank you;)

A fair number of new events. (A dozen or so?). Unfortunately no new leaders. Need to get Biaggio Asserto in there. He beat the Aragonese at Ponza when outnumbered 25-16, capturing the King of Aragon, and beat the Venetians later on.

Genoese leaders

I can include some more leaders for 1.4.2. I have been thinking of Frederigo Fregoso, perhaps with an event where he's chosen to become army (2/3/3) or naval (3/3/3), naval default.
In 1510, after the troubles in Genoa and the victory of the Adorni, Federigo was exiled and compelled to seek refuge at Rome. Three years later, the Fregosi returned to Genoa, Ottaviano was elected Doge, and Federigo, having become his chief counsellor, was placed at the head of the army, and defended the republic against internal dangers (revolts of the Adorni and the Fieschi) and external dangers (suppression of the Barbary piracy). Cortogoli, a corsair from Tunis, blockaded the coast with a squadron, and within a few days had captured eighteen merchantmen. Being given the command of the Genoese fleet, in which Andrea Doria was serving, Federigo surprised Cortogoli before Bizerta, effected a descent on the island of Djerba and returned to Genoa with great booty. The Fregosi had recognized Francis I, King of France, as Lord of Genoa. In 1522, Charles V besieged the city. Federigo directed the defence and was wounded. The Spaniards having taken the city by assault, he was compelled to seek safety on a French vessel. Francis I accorded him a warm reception and gave him the Abbey of St. Benignus at Dijon...

I couldn't find anything on Biaggio Asserto, please enlighten me.

Don't have a whole lot, but:
The Genoese had an important part in the war that was fought at Gaeta, defended by Francisco Spinola and in the victory of Ponza, won by the Genoese Biagio Assereto.
[about the war in Naples between Rene of Anjou and Alfonso of Aragon. And yes I think I had it wrong, it's Assereto.]

Gaeta, beseigeed in May by the Aragonese, valiantly defended by Francisco Spinola, resisted until a genoese fleet arrived to free it, sent by Visconti.
Composed of sixteen galleys, it carried two thousand four hundred soldiers and was commanded by an expert sailor, Biagio Assereto. Alfonso of Aragon, with a fleet of twenty five ships carrying six thousand soldiers, came out to fight the Genoese. On the 5th of August 1435 in the waters off Ponza an upset battle was fought for approximately ten hours and it finished with the complete defeat of the Aragonese. All of the fleet was taken by Assereto. There were five thousand prisoners, including Alfonso, the king of Navarre and the Grand Master of the Order of Saint Giacomo di Calarava his brothers, the prince of Taranto, the duke of Sessa[?], Count of [??] and the many other illustrious barons.
[more of my dubious translation from Italian, which, in my defense, I cannot speak.]

And one more:
In May 1448 Francesco Sforza resumed [the attack?] the Venetian towns of Treviglio, Cassano, Melzi, Rivalta and several castles near the Adda, therefore he approached Casalmaggiore in order to operate, with the Milanese squadron led by Biagio Assereto, against the Venetian fleet commanded by Andrea Querini. At the same location at which the Veneziani had defeated the ships of Filippo Visconti Maria two years earlier, on 16 July the fleet of the Querini, composed of seventy large and small boat vessels between, came nearly completely destroyed.

This battle was (as should be clear) on the Po. Genoa was under Milan by 1448.

Other possible leaders include
Paolo Fregoso: Archbishop of Genoa. He commanded the army that defeated Rene of Anjou outside Genoa in 1460 when the Genoese overthrew French rule. He was doge for a very short period of time (basically the Church wasn't too happy with a clergyman coming to power as the result of a coup). In 1480 he was supposed to have led the army to drive the Turks out of Otranto before they went home to fight in the Ottoman civil war.

Like most Genoese he ended up as an exile.

Also I had sources saying that Pedro Navarro rather than a Fregoso commanded the defense of Genoa in 1522.

More Assereto

Link here

What I think it says is:
Biagio Assereto was born to Costantino Assereto and Orietta Guisulfo.... [no date :(]

Because he was a youth of much talent and with a particular attitude for business, Biagio Assereto was named first accountant [??] of the Port of San Maurizio, then in 1427 he became head of the four Chancellors of the Commune. [This is the body of Genoese citizens]...

It is therefore no surprise to find Biagio Assereto captain of one galley that, with 12 other capital ships, under the command of Admiral Doria distinguished itself in the war against the Aragonese to restore Queen Giovanna to the throne of Naples. [I believe this is the war of 1423 when Genose ships took Guido Torello to Naples]

In 1425 we still find him captain of a ship, in 1427 he defends the honor of the native land against the Florentines, in the 1429 drafted by the republic Republic [?] with the Luccese, until when in 1450 after to have participated to many other campaigns, Biagio Assereto was knighted by the prince Francisco Sforza and in 1451 it was made a count by Sforza....

The 25 of April 1456 Biagio Assereto finished his existence, his body was in the Church of Serravalle and the sons erected to its memory a monument decorated with a marble bust.

Nice compilation!
My suggestions:
Biagio Assereto (naval) 5/2/3 1429-1450
Frederigo Fregoso (naval) 3/3/3 1513-1522
Paolo Fregoso (army) 2/2/3 years? lived 1430-1489

For comparison Quirini is 3/2/2, rather surprising in the otherwise excellent Venetian leader file.
The years for Assereto are from his draft by the republic, before that he was only a captain, till he was knighted. I let the old man retire then ;)
Should P Fregoso be better, don't know Rene of Anjou's rates?

Also, I might make a small event for the foundation of the University, since the 15th century is rather dull:
The first higher education in Genoa dates back to the 13th century when Colleges were established as private institutions governed by their internal rules and regulations. They were entitled to award degrees in Law, Medicine,Theology, the Arts and Philosophy. The official foundation of the University of Genoa was deemed as being marked by the Papal Bull of Sixtus IV in 1471 which officially recognised degrees awarded by the 'College of Theology'.

Are you sure it's the same Quirini? There are a bunch of them.

I'd put Assereto ahead of F Fregoso. I mean he actually won a major battle.

Rene of Anjou's record as a commander is not very good. He's not a leader now, but Havard was thinking of adding him for PRO.

What about some conquistadors and explorers from genoa? I think it should be possible to build up at least a small colonial empire with this country. Wasn't Colon a capitan from genoa?

I think he was. After 1500 Genoa as a naval oriented state have a really good chance of getting random ones. They can also get some maps from naval battles.

New deal:
rank 0 Biagio Assereto (naval) 5/4/3 1429-1450
rank 1 Frederigo Fregoso (naval) 3/3/3 1513-1522
rank 2 Paolo Fregoso (army) 2/2/3 years? lived 1430-1489

F Fregoso has lower rank than Doria for the 2 years they collide.
Uncertain of P Fregoso's rank and active period.
