Ive just wasted a bunch of time I feel trying to play Italy. Seems like the German AI is just usless when I play Italy. I played GB and Japan and both Italy AI and German AI seemed fine.
Im not sure if it because Im doing stuff that didnt historically happen....or something else that is causing it.
Game one:
1933 Start. I take over Albania and Ethopia by the end of 1934. I allied with Germany soon after to gain the Tech Tree Blueprints. Germany is already allied with Hungary.
1935-1936 I just build stuff up.
1937- I attack Yugo so Germany cannot grab land..Austria and Chez still blocking them. Romania and Greece Declare war on my. I assume control over Bulgaria (Now Axis) and Hungary so they only defend thier own lands and dont try grabbing what I want.
1938- I own Yugo, Romania, Greece, Albania, Ethiopia, and I then attack Turkey.
1939- I own most of Turkey by the time Germany DOW's Poland. Germany takes a few provs from Poland and stops.....it doesnt finnish Poland off. I wait till April 1940....still nothing. Just sits there.....same areas controled, no combat....no build up for attack on France.
I give up and start again.
Game Two:
Pretty much same as above except I wait to attack Yugo till after Germany has taken Chez and Austria. Romania joins our side. 1940 I attack Turkey. Germany sends pretty much everything it had to help out..but by the time it gets into possition I annex Turkey. I then proceed to take Syria.
Germany in the mean time ignores Syria and moves everything back to Russian Border.
Germany has defeated Poland and France normally....Im thinking because I waited longer to attack the Bulken Nations.
I put my troops on Turkey/Russia Border in order to start my own little front vrs Russia when Germany does Barbarossa. Germany waits until July 1941 to DOW Russia.....and guess what? Nothing happens. It just sits there not attacking. In fact the russians takes Prussia.
Winter 1941 and Im way in too deep. Russia and Germany are doing nothing vrs each other but Russia is kicking my butt over in Turkey land.
What is up with Germany?
Also, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria...do nothing at all. All their troops are stacked in their capitols and not moving. They were closer to the Russian border before the Barbarrosa event....but then that border turns German and sends their troops Stratigic Deployed back to the Capitols. I assumed controls over them and forced their troops back to the border. Once there I released them and they all moved back.
What am I doing wrong?
Should I just play Italy historically? Not do anything at all different?
Or....Just dont play Italy?
