hi,

I bought the german version and there are a few gripes.

i did search the forum but couldnt find it mentioned so i thought ill list them up

1.
the tooltip text for the german HQ unit is in spanish

2.
the popupwindow where you can adjust the parameters for Air/Naval mission is too small, you cant (depending on the undelying country color) read the % value of when to break up the attack.

3.
when you annex, lets say yugoslavia, and instantly deploy garrison units in Croatia area (just as an example 1 unit from the force pool and 1 by redeploying)
and you later accept the ~indipendent Croatia~ event you get two things, first the one unit already deployed gets stuck because you cannot redeploy it anymore.
and second, the one unit en route gets lost once the redeploy is complete.

4.
when you fire a event like ~vinchy~ or ~bitter peace~ but your troops did already advance deeper into enemy territory, the units are automaticly redeployed to (if you play german) Berlin. while this is ok, wouldnt it be possible to redeploy them to the closest german province ??

5.
Imho some ballance work is needed on the brigades, right now i barly ever use brigades, there suply/fuel demands are outrageous for a small adition.
i rather go with a second inf unit than with a brigade (given that, i do use engeneer and police brigades)

6.
Production/Research
any advances made due to research (like faster build time/fewer cost) are not carried over to currently running serial production. is that on intent??

7.
No intro movie in the german version.
a friend of mine bought the english game version and well i noticed that there is no intro movie in the german version of the game. why ??

8.
uhm well, not sure how to say this.. hmm ill try a funny aproach

You guys seriously messed up some of the german leader/minister names during the translation (like Hiller, Hoss and so on) and also you also forgot to include some of there pics :)

seriously, was that done due to german laws (i really dont think its against the german law to mention there names or show there pics)?

well thats it for now exept for one thing,

this is for sure the most complex game i have ever played and it runs like a charm. i simply cant tell how much i enjoy playing it.

I think I need to explain a little something about the German version concerning the messed up names and the missing intro:
This is actually "intended". Not because we like to fool those of you who buy the German game (event though we DO like to have a littel fun every now and then ;) ) but because German laws are rather strict concerning the Nazi time.
While I am not a lawyer I have understood it like this: Computer games are considered toys (Spielzeug). According to German law toys can not be about Hitler, Himmler or any of the prominent figures of the 3rd Reich. While this is inconveinient from a HoI2 point of view, I understand that they do not want to allow kids to play with Hitler dolls, or buy a mini modell of a KZ or the likes. Sometiems history is best taught in a Classroom.

For the game that means that that we had to remove the intro (you can see Hitler) as well as some pictures where those forbidden persons were shown. The names, well, they are as close as we could get. ;)

I hope that clears up a few things.

Thanks for the fast response

well i already thought so, however i simply had to ask.

The german laws that prohibit nazi propaganda and stuff like that are good for the the most of it. sometimes its kinda disturbing, especially if one could hardly be considered as a ~child~ (well in my case i am 36 :))

However i can understand that it wouldnt be good for your company to try and mess around with the german laws as it would simply end up with HOI2 taken from the the german market.

as i already said, i can live with it but i had to ask :)
