So you like Panzers? hows about some more Panzers?
So you like Stukas? hows about some more Stukas?
So you like Falschirmjaeger? hows about some more Falschirmjaeger?
So... I've decided to do another small AAr of AoD, my favorite Paradoxian game.
I've already played from 1936 to Dec 1940, I used a souped up Blitzkrieg tactic making use of improved CAS and Fighters with good armor and good motorised Infantry. I now have mechanised infantry and am researching the next level. The concept of the strategy I'm using is, extreme usage of armor, panzergrenadiers and airborne troops. So far the airborne troops have had it hard, they fought to surrender in Bergen when surrounded by Norwegians, but managed to successfully take part in the recent Greek campaign as a reconstituted(rebuilt) unit.
For the Sake of Brevity and a as a way of showing the whole war, I will follow a unit from each major military arm, a submarine leader, a Paratrooper leader, a Armored leader and maybe a CAS leader. Something like this.
1st Falschirmjaeger

1st October, division Parachutes into Edessa, Greece and attacks south towards Athens, however encountered heavy Greek resistance and dug in for 7 days. The 1st Panzer Division arrives as the vanguard of a motorised army under the command of Rommel and the Greeks quickly turn to flight. We took heavy casualties, again, but we took our objective and Rommel managed to exploit this well.
27th October, Athens was taken and the Greeks surrendered. Our Italian allies took all the minor islands around Greece including Crete, well done to them. We have been withdrawn to Belgrade until the next operation involving us is ready.
There are rumors of plans for a great offensive in the East against the Russians... I don't believe it.
Between October and December the Luftwaffe bombard the South coast of England and decimate the RAF on the airfields, however losses were such that major operations ceased and now we are bombing London to break their will. Most of the airforce has been transfered to the east.
Our submarine arm has had a tough time, many casualties have been sustained, but we have sunk alot of tonnage, currently only one group of submarines are on offensive patrols west of Gibraltar. They are scoring alot of tonnage but the Tommies are getting better and more destroyers and ASW tactics. It is early yet, but I fear our submarines have the short end of the stick with regards to survival chances.
We've been found again! argh we cannae take much more kiptin!

TOP SECRET PLANS

*Barbarossa is planned for June 1941, we hope to have more armor and more mechanised troops by then. Also garrisons in France are replacing fighting strength divisions, so more men will be released to the east as the months tick by!
