I find the mere suggestion of this completely repugnant. :p

The relentless progress of civilization always brings casualties. Can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs and all that. People who can't stand wine spliced with extract from rotten fish innards are sadly among these. Of course modern Scandinavia has obviously attained high level of cultural sophistication, as dishes like Surströmming readily demonstrate.

The difference between the Norse and Germanic peganism around 300 BC would probably be minimal.
